
Introduction
The founding members finally established the National Charity
Society of Blood according to the regulations of charitable
institutions & societies that was decreed by the House of Ministers
(decree number 107) dated 25/6/1410 H & its executive legislations
issued by the ministerial decree of the Minister of Labour & Social
Affairs number 760 dated 30/1/1412 H and its corresponding
directions which declared the services of the society in the region
of Makkah & its villages & where its main centre is in Jeddah.
An approval was issued by his Excellency Minister of Labour & Social
Affairs number 9560/Ô in 29/2/1423 H.
The establishers for the National Charity Society of Blood believe
that saving one human being is as saving the entire humanity and
that it is considered one of the best ways to become closer to Allah
as mentioned in Quran: “And if anyone saves a life, it would be as
if he saved the life of all mankind). Al Ma’idah (32). ”.
The Society’s
Tasks:
Are divided on three levels over a period of three years:
Phase (I) – 1st Year:
- Collection of blood from donors.
- Dividing blood into its components & testing it. Separating platelets &
freezing
fresh plasma.
- Testing the platelets for antigens & HLA match platelets & performing
the
different serological investigations.
- Perform HIV confirmation testing.
- Encouraging the culture of blood donation. Also Quality Assurance &
Quality
Improvement team building.
- Establishing the infrastructure for a strong blood banking database
system.
Phase (II) – 2nd Year:
- Red cell freezing.
- Expanding blood components preparation.
- Blood irradiation with Gamma rays.
- Collecting rare blood types.
- Red blood cells washing & its filtration.
Phase (III) – 3rd Year:
- Scientific Research.
- Practical & Field Training.
